Alan Wayne Drumheller

Alan Wayne Drumheller, 68, of Schuyler, departed this life on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on December 26, 1945 in Newport News, a son of the late Henry Ford Drumheller and Willie Flora (Wright) Drumheller.

“Wayne,” as he was known to his family and friends, was a long-time employee of the Scottsville Uniroyal/Michelin tire manufacturing facility where he worked as a Master Electrician and later as a Security Officer.  Born into a military family and serving multiple tours of duty as a Marine, he traveled much of the world – living in locations such as Germany to Alaska and many points in between.  However, he found his true home in Schuyler on several acres of forested land.  Here he built his home and enjoyed his retirement while quietly tending to his land, his pets, and his family.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Maggie (Willoughby) Drumheller of Schuyler; a son, Randall Harris and his wife, Jackie of Charlottesville; a brother, Nathan “Corky” Drumheller; five grandchildren, Joshua, Anthony, Ashley, Kristiana, and Kevin; four great-grandchildren, Connor, Addison, Elias, and Jaxson; and a number of extended family and friends.

Wayne had many interests and talents.  He was a skilled marksman; a talented sketch artist; an avid collector; and an outdoor sportsman.  He will always be remembered for his gentle manner, wry smile, and quiet and caring ways.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home by the Reverend James C. Jetton.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
