Delma Jean Potchernick
Delma Jean Potchernick, 75, of Scottsville, died Saturday, January 4, 2014 at her residence.
She was born on November 15, 1938 in Alleghany County, Virginia a daughter of the late Herman William and Mamie Elizabeth (Reynolds) Hoover.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Otto Potchernick; and a brother, Roy Lee Hoover.
Jean loved her animals, spending time with her family and crocheting. She was always at every family event and was a member of the Morning Star Deliverance Church in Scottsville.
Survivors include three sons, Charles Michael Zimmerman and wife, Janie of Scottsville, James Zimmerman and wife, Kari of Joliet, Montana, and Russell “Rusty” Zimmerman and wife, Darlene of Buckingham; two sisters, Carol Wood of Scottsville, who was not only her sister but friend and sidekick, and Debra Wright of Louisa; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two special nieces, Kimberly Harris of Louisa and Elizabeth Noffsinger of Scottsville, both of whom she loved like daughters; a special nephew, Matt Wood; her loving aunt, Kathleen Cook; close friend Ellen Kirby of West Virginia; many friends from the church and the neighborhood; and her precious little dog, “Cuddles” who was the love of her life.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Morning Star Deliverance Church by Pastor Bruce Wasson. A meal will immediately follow the service. Please feel free to bring a covered dish to share in fellowship with the family.
