John Lewis Rector

     John Lewis Rector, 86, formerly of Palmyra, died Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Trinity Mission of Charlottesville.

     He was born on July 16, 1927 in Fauquier County, the son of the late Mason and Rosa Rector. 

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and Clyde Rector; a sister, Jessie Rector Leckliter; and a nephew, Clyde Rector, Jr.

     John was a lifelong farmer.  He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying all aspects of nature.   

     He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, and is survived by his four nieces, Natalie Jane Costello of Stephens City, Barbara Houdershell of Manassas, Gayle Cross of Middletown, and Iona Massie of Richmond.

     There will be no public funeral services.  Interment will be held at a later date at Wesley’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery near Scottsville.
