Edward Russell O'Brien

Edward Russell O’Brien, 76, of Scottsville, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2024, at home surrounded by his family.

He was born July 1, 1947, in Fluvanna County, the son of the late John Willie O’Brien and Lee Nora Pace O’Brien Davis.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Madeline O’Brien; stepfather, Edward (Edloe) Davis; seven brothers and sisters, John Jr.
O’Brien, Ernest O’Brien, Joyce Taylor, Ruby Seale, Roy Lee Davis, William Ray Davis, and Lois Joanne O’Brien.

On March 8, 1968,  Ed married the love of his life, Gloria, and they were married for 56 loving years.  Family was number one for Ed and he loved them dearly. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and helping family, friends, and anyone he felt was in need.  He will always be remembered as a strong, hardworking family man.

Edward is survived by his four children, Dinah Hall (Tim), Wanda G. Morris, Steve Morris (Wanda Sue), and Mark Morris; two brothers, David Davis (Brenda) and James Davis; two sisters, Norma Taylor (Reid) and Virginia Hunt (Mike); seven grandchildren, Steven (Sarah), Kristen (Roger), Marky, Sean (Dani), Skylar, Samantha, and Hunter (Kelsy); sixteen great-grandchildren, Benny, Joshua, Molly, James, Ellery, Aaliyah, Londyn, Micah, Cole, Carleigh, Aubrie, Timothy, Adam, Nolan, Emmit, and Ethan; as well as a special long-time friend, Richard Roberts.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 11, 2024, at Fox Memorial Baptist Church with Pastors Randy Golladay and Devin Watkins officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Trinity Hospice, 944 Glenwood Station Lane, Suite 302, Charlottesville, VA 22901.
