Tanya Nicole Snead

Tanya Nicole Snead, 31, of Esmont, lost her battle with cancer on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville.  Tanya fought with dignity and strength until the very end without ever giving up that a cure for cancer was eminent.

She was born on January 8, 1982 in Charlottesville, a daughter of Helen (Rice) Snead and the late Wilbur Aubrey Snead.

Other than her father, Tanya was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Snead.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her sole reason for living, her sons, Kaedyn Michael “Boogie” Manuel and Ryan Aubrey Snead; a special cousin, Melisa A. Evans; a special sister, Terri Lynn McPeak; foster mothers, Teresa Lynn McPeak and Jackie Lohr; and countless friends.

Melisa would like to thank Dr. Margaret Hobson of Southern Albemarle Family Practice for going above and beyond the call of duty in Tanya’s care.  We are blessed to have had you as Tanya’s doctor, but more importantly as our friend.

A memorial service will be conducted at 12:00 Noon, on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Esmont with Pastor William “Yacky” Shellito officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 PM, on Wednesday evening, May 8, 2013 at New Green Mountain Baptist Church in Esmont.

Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Family and friends may share memories and photos at www.thackerbrothers.com.

She was a very strong special person with a golden heart. She had an essence about her that could draw anybody or anything to her , that was the kind of person she was. Very loving , kind and beautiful inside and out . There will never be another person on this earth like her, she was one of a kind! With her smile and beauty living on each day through her son I'm at peace with knowing she is in a better place and will always walk beside all of us who mourn her and miss her . I love you very much my best friend in the whole world and its gonna be hard without you here but I know God only takes the best so soon so with that R.I.P. baby girl your pain is over! XOXXXOXOXO BFFL

I did not know Tanya, but followed her story through a Daily Progress article written about her & through friends & neighbors who did know her & what I gathered was that she was a wonderful person, a kind and loving mother and friend. It was evident that she was greatly loved by all who knew her. And it was clear that she loved her children more than life itself. I know she will be missed greatly, she was a beautiful woman with a good heart, now transformed into one of God's angels to watch over, love, and protect her children & family members. May you all find peace & comfort in the memories you all share & cherish.

I'm so sorry for the family's loss. But there is no more suffering for her to feel, for she is in the hands of our Father up above and has her beautiful wings enjoying the beauty of Heaven itself. Where no more pain and suffering is in her life. We will all meet again one day and enjoy seeing one another. Tanya you will be missed and loved by so many and you were a sweet lady as long as i knew you. Kisses and hugs we will miss you a lot

I'm very sorry to hear of Tanya's passing. I want to extend my deepest condolences. Tanya and I grew up together. She was the very first friend I had when I moved from Scottsville Elementary to Yancey Elementary. We immediately clicked. She always had a dynamite personality and always made me laugh. She's one of the most loyal human beings I've ever had the pleasure of getting to know. She will be missed. I know she's up there with her brother and in no more pain. Sending my best from the west coast.

My prayers go out to the family and friends of Tanya. I only knew her briefly, but she had a zest for life and love for family. She is now in the hands of Christ where pain no longer exists.

I remember the day we met, our friendship was inevitable! She was so kind hearted and REAL! Our friendship blossomed over the years and I watched one of the strongest women I know become even dtronger and fight this battle with faith and dignity! You will truly be missed Tanya and I know you are in God's Kingdom looking down on your boys and watching over us all! I will miss you everyday but the light that you spread during your time on earth will never go out! Love you girl! RIP
Condolences to the family

I met Tanya when my father first hired her at the Italian Villa, and her first day of work was Memorial Day, and we got slammed! But despite being new, she plugged on, did the best she could, and then laughed about it afterwards! And it was her laugh and smile, with her sweet face and pretty blonde hair, that drew people to her. And she accomplished so much despite so many odds being against her, and she fought this terrible cancer so hard despite it being so advanced and serious. Your great fight is over now sweet pretty girl, rest Tanya, you may be gone too soon but you will never be forgotten.
