Peggy Joyce Shifflett

 

     Peggy Joyce Shifflett, 82, of Scottsville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at her home, surrounded by her family.    

     She was born on February 11, 1935, a daughter of the late Thomas A. Bumbalough and Eunice L. Watson.       

     Peggy retired from K-mart in Charlottesville where she had worked for many years.  She attended Scottsville Independent Baptist Church, enjoyed going to yard sales, and was a collector of Angels.  But most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

     Survivors include two daughters, Janie Zimmerman and husband, Charles and Melissa Lambert and husband, Jeff; four brothers, Donald Watson, and Charles, James, and Harry Bryant; three sisters, Sally Bryant, Jacqueline Moses, and Elizabeth Woodson; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.    

      A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, May 26, 2017 at Scottsville Independent Baptist Church by Pastor Harlin Sykes.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.     

      The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm, Thursday evening, May 25, 2017 at Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Central Virginia, 1160 Pepsi Place, Charlottesville, Virginia 22901.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. She was a very sweet person and loved her family very much. She is with God now and is no longer in pain.
