Gwendolyn P. Sprouse-Meadows

Gwendolyn Pace Sprouse-Meadows, of Palmyra, went home to be with Jesus on Friday, April 20, 2018. Gwen passed from this world to her heavenly home surrounded by her loving family. Gwen will be reunited in heaven with her parents, Joseph Calvin and Lottie Opal Gibson Pace; and husband of 42 years, John Sprouse, Sr.
Gwen grew up in Albemarle, but called Fluvanna home for her adult life. She retired from the University of Virginia Physician's Group and was a member of Fluvanna Baptist Church and the Fluvanna Flutterwheels.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 4 years, Chester (Chet) Meadows; two brothers: Ronald C. Pace and his wife, Nancy; Joseph (Jay) D. Pace and his wife, Gonde; two daughters: Beth Barringer and her husband, Stacy, Veronica Harris and her husband, Steve; a son, John Sprouse, Jr. and his wife, Deborah; and a step-son, Thomas Meadows and his wife, Fe; six grandchildren who loved their Mema: Anthony Sprouse, Josh Barringer, Samantha Wharton and her husband, Jonathan, Mason Barringer, Jessica Sprouse, and Amanda Harris; five step-grandchildren:  Jacob Sprouse, Faye, Nikolai, Shikeina and Anica Marcelino; a great-granddaughter, Layla Dabney; and many other loving family members and several very special friends. The family would like to offer thanks for the outpouring of support during Gwen's illness.
Gwen loved the Lord God with her whole heart and served him faithfully, she would not want an opportunity with an audience to be wasted. If you knew Gwen you saw Jesus in action. If you do not have an assurance of salvation and would like to, please consider the words from John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son that whoever believes in him will not perish, but have everlasting life."
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 am, Monday, April 23, 2018 at Fluvanna Baptist Church, 7454 West River Road in Scottsville by Pastor Alan Acree.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery with a time of food and fellowship to follow.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 22 from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. at Thacker Brothers Lake Monticello Funeral Home, 138 Heritage Drive in Palmyra.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fluvanna Baptist Church, 7454 West River Road, Scottsville, VA 24590; or to the University of Virginia Hospital, 8 West, 1215 Lee Street, Charlottesville, VA 22908.

My deepest sympathy to Gwen’s family, whom she dearly loved. I had the pleasure of working with Gwen for many years. The epitome of grace and strength, her smile lit the room, always positive, and so resilient. I will always remember her fondly until we see her again. Her love for her family, friends, and Jesus were evident for all to see.

I enjoyed working with Gwen when she worked at KCRC processing insurance referrals for Pediatric Orthopaedics. My partner, Anne Rebar, and I thought a lot of Gwen. She was a very sweet and compassionate person who touched many lives. She will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
