Sam R. Snoddy, Sr.

     Sam Redford Snoddy, Sr., 69, of New Canton, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.

     He was born on March 21, 1949 in Buckingham County, a son of the late Carl Lee Snoddy, Sr. and Alma Evelyn (Toney) Snoddy.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Leonard and Edith Pace; and a brother-in-law, Michael Pace.

     Sam was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  He was a hard worker and operated his own roofing business for a number of years.  He was a Vietnam Veteran, having served his country in the U.S. Army.

     Survivors include his wife of 45 years: Kathy Sue (Pace) Snoddy of New Canton; a son: Sam Snoddy, Jr. and wife, Leslie of New Canton; two daughters: Katina “Nikki” Goins and husband, Ollie and Jeanne Jones and husband, Sammy, all of New Canton; seven grandchildren: Tyler, Trent, Kaylee, and Khloe Snoddy, Shane and Joshua Goins, and Ethan Jones, all of New Canton; three brothers: Carl Lee Snoddy, Jr. and wife, Marilyn, William Earl Snoddy, and Charles Edward Snoddy and wife, Jennifer, all of New Canton; his in-laws who were like brothers and sisters to him: James Pace and wife, Janet, Richard Pace and wife, Diane, Wanda Matney and husband, Oliver, Barbara Shifflett and husband, Rodney, and Kathy Pace, all of Scottsville; a special uncle, George Kirby of Scottsville; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

     A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home by Pastor Terry Tolliver.

I worked with Sam in the 70s when he worked for EB Lightfoot Roofing and I was in high school. I remember Sam as a hard working person with a tremendous sense of humor and I always enjoyed his company. He was a good person.
