James A. Brittle, Sr.

James Al “Jimmy” Brittle, Sr., 63, of Scottsville, departed this life, on Monday, February 25, 2019 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.

He was born on January 6, 1956 to the late Edwin Earl Brittle, Sr. & Virginia Agee Brittle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son: James “Beanie” Brittle, II; two brothers: Edwin Earl Brittle, Jr. & Vincent Brittle; and a sister: Joyce Anne Brown.

Jimmy had worked as a long time JAUNT bus driver and had also worked for the Virginia Dept. of Transportation and Kroger. He was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church in Scottsville, where he had sung in the choir and served as a Deacon under the leadership of Rev. Albert Read. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling and watching the Minnesota Vikings. He was always a joker.

Survivors include his son: Jason Todd Brittle and his wife, Erin of Batesville, IN.; three grandchildren: Monica, Katelyn and Jaxon Brittle; a great grandson: Bryce Bibb; three sisters: Evelyn Brown, Donna Brittle-Johnson (Isaiah) and Janet Dimmie; one brother in law; Clarence Brown, Sr.; one aunt: Emma “Ruth” Eubanks; the mother of his children: Judy Johnson and her family, the Johnsons of Scottsville; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and his childhood friends: Cecil and Wayne Allen, Curtis Hedgeman, Jr. and  Keith Woodson.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude for all of the calls, cards, visits, and any other acts of kindness during the loss of our loved one. A special thanks to his devoted sister, Evelyn Brown for all that she has done in the last several months. Thanks to Dr. David Chesler, Michelle Turner, who cared for him, and Michelle Rodriguez, CNA at Albemarle Health and Rehab; and to Craig Banks who never would say no. We would also like to acknowledge UVA Medical Center, Encompass, Albemarle & Charlottesville Health and Rehabilitation Centers for the services they provided to Jimmy in the last few months.  May God richly bless you as He has blessed us with your kindness.

A memorial service will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home by Pastor Joe Chambers.  Per the family request there will be no repast.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to the family to help with Jimmy's final expenses.
