     John Henry Collins Jr., 72, of Scottsville, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at his home.     
     He was born on August 18, 1946 in Fluvanna County, a son of the late John Henry Collins Sr. and Mary Elizabeth (Haislip) Collins.       
     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters: Peggy Hamner, Nancy Crickenberger, and Patricia Goolsby.     
     John had worked most of his life as a Heavy Eqiupment Operator.  He attended The Potter's House Church in Scottsville and was a longtime member of the Scottsville Volunteer Fire Department.     
    Survivors include his wife of nearly 35 years: Carolyn Fitzgerald Collins of Scottsville; two sons: Bradley Scott Collins of Staunton and John Travis Collins of Scottsville; a brother: Kenneth Collins (Vicky) of Maryland; four sisters: Joyce Glover (Henry) of Crozet, Connie Bryant of Scottsville, and Janet Bramble and Tina Wilson (Randy) all of Maryland; three grandchildren: Rebecca Shope and Chase and Angel Collins; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends.      
      A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Sunday, March 17, 2019 at the Scottsville Volunteer Fire Department, 141 Irish Road, Scottsville, VA by Pastor Harlin "Chubby" Sykes.     
      The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the Firehouse.  
     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Scottsville Volunteer Fire Department: PO Box 381, Scottsville, VA 24590.

Sorry to hear of the passing of a good friend and cousin. May our faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ provide John's family and friends with a peace that passes all understanding. Go rest high on that mountain John, as your work on earth is done. Bev, Carolyn and family.
