Edward Lewis Booker Sr.

     Edward Lewis Booker Sr., 83, of Arvonia, departed his earthly life on Friday, April 5, 2019 at the Hospice of the Piedmont's Center for Acute Hospice Care in Charlottesville. 

     He was born on July 2, 1935 in Buckingham County, a son of the late Robert Lee and Irene (Chambers) Booker.     

      In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Mae (Jones) Booker; two sisters; and two brothers.  

     Mr. Booker owned and operated Booker’s Auto Body Shop for a number of years.  He was a member of Union Branch Baptist Church in Arvonia.  He enjoyed watching CNN and wrestling on TV and enjoyed fishing. 

     Survivors include nine children: Marion Johnson and Donald Banks (Deborah) all of New Canton, Ronnie Booker of Norfolk, Eddie Booker (Carolyn) of Charlottesville, Brenda Washington (Marvin) of Esmont, Danny Booker and Mishelia Booker (Boyd) all of Scottsville, Estella Hawkins (George) of Palmyra, and Edward L. Booker, Jr. of Charlottesville; a sister, Pearl Powell of Richmond; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one step-grandchild; two step-great-grandchildren; a devoted niece, Florene Hutcherson Taylor; a devoted nephew, James Booker; a close neighborhood friend, Robert Chambers, Jr.; and a number of other nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

     The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Hospice of the Piedmont for all of their loving and compassionate care of their father.

     A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Union Branch Baptist Church in Arvonia by the Reverend Leroy Ross.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

     The viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

We were so sad to hear about bookers passing. He was a sweet and funny man to know and he never forgot a face. He will be deeply missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time.
