Raymond E. Bloxsom, Jr.

Raymond Edward Bloxsom, Jr., 68, of Scottsville passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at his home.

He was born on May 10, 1950, son of the late Raymond and Marie Bloxsom.

He attended Milford High School in Connecticut where he played on the football team and met a cute cheerleader named Maryalice Hoppe. They married on November 27, 1971.

Raymond was an avid musician and outdoorsman. He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on November 2, 1975. This began his 44-year walk of faith with Jehovah God. Ray would spend many hours every month volunteering in the community, local hospitals and prisons. Despite dealing with various illnesses for many years, Raymond was known for his compassion and empathy toward others.

Ray and Maryalice relocated to Virginia in 1982 where they raised their two daughters.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters: Heather and her husband, Srdan Popovic and Jennifer and her husband, Andrew Latham; his grandson: Jonathan; his brothers: Gary, Bill, and Jay and their spouses; as well as many nephews and nieces.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Scottsville VA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fluvanna County Sheriff's Office or the Scottsville Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Ray was unique. We remember him as a good friend who even while he was suffering always wanted to know how we were. And when I think of him I think always of his family. They were a whole. Beautiful. “Just around the corner”

I am so, so, sorry to hear of Ray's passing. It seems like just yesterday we were all partying in my Mom's basement in Milford CT. My warmest condolences to Mary Alice.

Maryalice and family, we're so sorry for your loss. I know Ray will be missed. Our Heavenly Father understands the pain and sadness you are feeling and assures us at Psalm 94:19 that, “When anxieties overwhelmed me, YOU comforted and soothed me.” May God provide you with the comfort, strength, and happy memories to help you endure.
