Dorothy M. Kirkley

     Dorothy May (Loftin) Kirkley, 76, of Palmyra, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at her home.

     She was known by Dottie to friends, and Precious to family. She was the daughter of Grover Cleveland and Mabel Maude Loftin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mario Gigliotti; and five siblings.

     Dottie is survived by her sisters, Barbara Loftin and Betty McGruder; her only child, Cynthia Jones; her grandchildren, Amanda and Alexandra Jones; and her closest friend, and “adopted” son, Kristopher Thomas.

     She took great enjoyment in sewing, gardening, cooking, and reading.  She also enjoyed keeping up with University of Virginia Athletics.  “Wahoowa!”

     The family would like to thank Martha Jefferson Hospital, Brightstar, and AseraCare for taking care of her in her final days.

     A memorial dinner will be held at 5 p.m., Sunday, June 9, 2019, at Beautiful Gate Church, 3 Centre Court, Palmyra, VA 22963.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lake Monticello Fire and Rescue Squad.

Goodbye dear friend. You will be very much missed. I will remember you for being Graceful, courageous, sagacious, positive and a faithful friend. " A faithful friend is the medicine of life". All those who were fortunate to be part of your life, are thankful for the gift of your friendship-which you alway gave without conditions.
