Alice Young Baber

     Alice Mae Young Baber, 81, of Scottsville, died on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at her home.

     She was born on May 4, 1940, in Albemarle County, a daughter the late Joseph Herbert and Evelyn Brown (Ragland) Bryant.

      In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Albert C. Baber; a sister, Lelia Gray; and three brothers, Harvey, Cecil, and Edgar Bryant.

     Alice retired from the University of Virginia.

     Survivors include four sons, John H. Young (Debbie), James H. Young (Laura), Albert L. Baber (Monica) and David C. Baber; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

     A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home by Pastor Paul Larrimore.  Burial will follow in Scottsville Cemetery.

      The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at the funeral home.
