Alice Scott Obituary

Alice Estelle Scott,79, of Scottsville, VA, peacefully went to be with her Lord on Friday, July 3, 2026.

Born March 16, 1947, in Charlottesville, VA, Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Pauline and Gordon P. Zimmerman, Sr.; brothers Gordon P. Zimmerman, Jr., Donald Zimmerman, Hollis Zimmerman and her love, her husband, Charles Lewis Scott, whom she missed every single day.

She is survived by her sons, Wade Allen Hoover and wife Sue, and Brandon C. Scott and wife Tonya; and one daughter, Melinda Maupin and husband Terry; one stepson, Gregory Scott and wife Deanna; one sister, Betty Sue Gaines; grandchildren Nicholas L. Maupin, Wade Allen Hoover, Jr., Eric R. Maupin, Sabian Maupin, Winter Maupin, Rifton Maupin, Rosalie Maupin, Derald E. Scott, Micah Scott, Olivia Scott, Judah Scott and Esther Scott; great-grandchildren Camden, Logan and Hosannah; Nephews Billy Zimmerman, Tyler Gaines, Stephen Zimmerman, Gordon P. Zimmerman III, Jody Frazier, Joshua Zimmerman and Adam Zimmerman; Nieces Helen Zimmerman, Valerie Zimmerman, Ann Zimmerman, Amy Butler, Tina Maupin and Amanda Morgan along with many cousins and extended family.

Alice was a skilled and respected bakery/deli manager for many years.  She found great pride in cake decorating and having an attractive display area.  She loved talking to the customers and encouraging them as well as her employees.  She retired to spend time with her friends and family, take mission trips, and volunteer in her church.  Her faith in Jesus was everything to her.  She was devoted to her family and church.  Guests in her home knew she would say “Goodbye” when it was church time.

Her quiet demeanor did not prevent a pointed finger to those who dared to criticize her family or friends.  She did not seek attention, yet she was like an unstoppable locomotive to protect or advocate for people in need.  She was an advocate for those not having a voice of their own.

She loved the beach – sitting on the balcony with a cup of coffee and listening to the waves was contentment.  It wouldn’t be surprising if she’s walking beside the crystal sea right now.

A graveside service will be held at the Scottsville Cemetery on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. A memorial service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Harvest Church of God, 1025 Rio Road East, Charlottesville, VA with her son, Reverend Brandon Scott, and former pastor Dr. Harold L. Bare, Sr. officiating.
