Amanda Virginia Payne Hall, 102, of Scottsville, died on Friday, January 24th, 2025, in Charlottesville.
She was born on November 29th, 1922, in Charlottesville, VA, to the late Miller and Amanda Payne.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Conrad Livingston Hall; a son, Stephen Jackson Hall; a sister, Mildred Payne; three brothers, James Bolling Payne, Chester Payne, and Randolph Payne; and a son-in-law William Holladay.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Yensan of Scottsville, and Anne Holladay of Charlottesville; 5 grandchildren, Laura Mowbray (Brent), Jonathan Yensan, Marie Yensan, Jenny Davis (Jason), Maggie Hawkins Cornejo (Jimmy), and Kate Hawkins; 11 great grandchildren, Allison, Joe, Olivia, Nathan, Hannah, Aiden, Chloe, Luke, Aurora, Elijah, and Hazel; in addition to many nieces and nephews, and other loving family members and friends.
Amanda lived a life dedicated to the Lord and her family. She was a devout Christian and enjoyed being involved in her Church. She was a true caretaker and nurturer, always doing for and giving to those around her. She was known for her cooking and loved to cook meals for others. Amanda was also a skilled knitter, always making beautiful sweaters for family and friends. She had a love for books and learning and enjoyed playing cards. She was a gifted storyteller. She loved telling stories from her past, as well as making up stories for her children and grandchildren. She shared her stories with family, friends, and just about everyone she met. Most of all, Amanda loved spending time with her family and had a special place in her heart for all of her great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Scottsville Presbyterian Church on Sunday March 2nd, 2025, at 2:00pm.
