Andrew Lewis Brookman

Andrew Lewis Brookman, Jr, died on July 24, 2020.  Born October 12, 1931, son of the late Andrew Lewis Brookman, Sr. and Mary Louise Roberts of Lyndhurst, VA.  

Known as "Junior", he married the late Peggy Lucille Greusel on June 3, 1957 and was wedded for 56 years.  He leaves behind a daughter, Gwenda Carol; a son, Evan Wayne, and his wife, Janette Elaine: two grandchildren, Karen Marie and Jared Alexander; two sisters, Louise Catherine Shirley and Pearl Elizabeth Allen and her husband Eugene Maxie; and one brother, Millard Samuel Brookman and his wife, Gladys Maxine.  

Junior served his country from 1952-1954 during the Korean War as a member of the U.S. Army 70th Tank Battalion.  After being honorably discharged, he had success as a long time employee of the Fluvanna County School System. His tireless work ethic and skill in numerous trades served him well as a Maintenance Supervisor and in his true passion, farming. 

In his leisure, Junior and Peggy enjoyed square dancing and were founding members of the Fluvanna Flutterwheels Square Dance Club.  He proudly volunteered in the Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla of Lake Monticello.  He also enjoyed boating, fishing, camping and was a member of Wesley' Chapel United Methodist Church.

Junior’s family would like to thank Hospice of the Piedmont for their wonderful care of Dad. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hospice of the Piedmont or Wesley’s Chapel Cemetery Fund. 

A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00am on Thursday, July 30, 2020, by Pastor Roger Powell in Wesley's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.  Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, all guests are required to wear masks and maintain social distancing of six feet.
