Arvery "Lloyd" Coles, Jr.

Arvery “Lloyd” Coles was born on December 25, 1950, in Farmville, Virginia, to the late Arvery L. Coles, Sr. and Ollie Bell Spears. Lloyd was diagnosed with lung cancer in the fall of 2021 and he fought it daily without complaining until he departed this life on February 10, 2023 at Albemarle Health & Rehabilitation Center in Charlottesville, VA.  He is preceded in death by his brothers, Norman Coles and Larry Coles, his son Arvery L. Coles III, his granddaughter Leneisha Banks, and  great grandson Sincere Banks.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife: Shirley, and their blended family of 3 daughters; Wanda Jones (Gerald), Diane Jones, Angela Harris (Linwood). He leaves his fatherly bond with his daughters, Charnelle Hair, Twaynna Coles-Benson (Oscar), and his son: Averielle Coles. He leaves brotherly love to his caring Sisters: Glendora Ryle (Greg), Connie Agee (Moses), Eva Hocker and Kat Hocker. He leaves funny stories to be told and pictures to behold to his 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 PM on Thursday,  February 16, 2023 at Slate River Baptist Church. A one-hour visitation will take place prior to the service.

Burial will follow in Slate River Baptist Church Cemetery.

Those desiring may pay their respects from 2:00 PM -6:00 PM on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home.
