It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved husband, father, and “Gang, Gang.”
Barry Allen Booth, 55, of Charlottesville passed away on February 15, 2022 at Martha Jefferson Hospital after a brief illness.
Barry was born on February 2, 1967, in Richmond, to the late Marjorie Glass Booth and Raymond Earl Booth.
He was recently proceeded in death by his father-in-law, Dallas “Wayne” Crickenberger in November 2021 and “Sissy Crickenberger” in 1998. Barry thought of Wayne and Sissy as his own parents, after losing his own parents so early in life.
He grew up in Charlottesville and attended Miller School Military Academy and Western Albemarle High School.
Barry was a Master Plumber of 36 years. He did new residential and commercial plumbing and operated heavy equipment. He always took pride in his work and wanted things precise and accurate. He instilled these same qualities in his two sons as he lovingly taught them his very unglorified trade. Barry was also very skilled at carpentry, home repairs and loved keeping his yard neatly manicured. Barry worked at many local companies over the years but was employed by Advanced Plumbing for the past several years, where he was treated like a brother and family by all.
He is survived by his sweetheart of 35 years, Crystal Booth. They were married for 32 ½ years. Survivors also include his two sons, Barry Wayne Booth and wife, Emily, and Bradley Allen Booth and girlfriend, Tyler; two grandchildren Sophia Nash and Barrett Wayne Booth; and a new grandson, Bentley Allen Booth, who is due to arrive in June and will regrettably not meet his Gang-Gang.
Barry was a football fan and played football in high school and coached both of his sons in little league football. He was a huge Notre Dame fan.
He was a very serious and passionate Bass fisherman and liked to fish almost every weekend if weather permitted…and even if it didn’t. He had vast collections of the best rods, reels, and tackle. He was a proud supporter of catch-and-release and always liked to weigh, measure, and photograph his big catches. Crystal put together scrap books of all his trophies and citations. Barry’s moto was “It’s better to have a dollar than 100 pennies when it comes to Bass fishing.”
When he wasn’t working or fishing, he and his wife loved taking short weekend road trips. They loved trying new restaurants, antiquing, and visiting historical sites. Barry collected die cast John Deere Toys and antique decoys. He loved animals of all kinds and kept the neighborhood birds and squirrels happy and fat.
Barry was also a cat daddy and will be greatly missed by his many feline babies, especially his “Maggie Mew, Mew”.
He was an avid and proud Chevrolet man his whole life. He had hot rods in his early days and a variety of Chevy trucks and Silverado’s as he got older. He always took care of his vehicles and lovingly cared for them like a member of the family.
Of all the people, places and things that filled his life; nothing captured his heart and gave him the greatest satisfaction then his two sons, Barry and Brad. He was always proud of the close relationships that they shared, and loved nothing more than cookouts, fixing and washing cars, football games and boy talks with his two sons. They were so bonded that one son lived on each side of them.
Barry will be missed and remembered fondly by his friends, family, and pets.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Monticello Memory Gardens by Pastor D.W. Crickenberger. There will be no viewing or visitation.
