Carl Celeste Fitzgerald 68, of Palmyra, Virginia entered eternal rest on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, peacefully at his residence after a courageous battle with Cancer.
Carl was preceded in death by his Father, Conwell Fitzgerald, Mother, Betty C. Fitzgerald, and Brother, Jerome Fitzgerald.
Carl Fitzgerald began his life on November 14, 1955, in Danville, VA. He was the oldest of his four siblings. Carl was a person, who never met a stranger, and was well known to spark up a conversation with his joking and talkative personality. You could often catch him in the backyard working on a vehicle or lawn mowers for neighbors. He shared a special love for his seven grandchildren, Kandace, Kanesha, Eboni, Elijah, Jada, Kaleb, and Kali.
Carl leaves to cherish his memories to his loving wife of 24 years, Vera Fitzgerald of Palmyra, VA; Three bonus children: Kimberley Wells of Atlanta, GA; Sabrina and husband, Kanem of Charlottesville, VA; Samuel Wells of Charlottesville, VA. One brother Anthony and wife, Gayle Fitzgerald of Danville, VA; Two Sisters: Cathy Holman of Danville, VA, and Rentha Henderson (Isaac)of Danville VA; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
The Family would like to thank a special friend/neighbor, Brad McGraw for his tremendous assistance, support and love shown during Carl's illness. Thank you to Sentara Cancer Center and Hospice of Piedmont for the compassionate care and hospitality provided to Carl and our family during his illness. The family would like to express our gratitude for all the prayers, love, and support during the passing of Carl.
A private Celebration of Life for Carl will be announced and conducted at a later date.
Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home will assist in the arrangements.
