Carolyn “Carol” Wooten Herndon, age 77, of Scottsville went home to be with our Lord on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on November 28, 1947, to the late Herman Sizer Wooten and Gracie Branch Wooten. Carol was one of ten children.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her lifelong partner, William “Bill” McDearmon; four brothers, Herman Wooten, Jr., Charles Wooten, Wayne Wooten and Albert “Hayes” Wooten; two sisters, Gracie “Jeanette” Wooten Gunter and Stella “Marie” Wooten Couch; and a nephew, Steven Smith.
Carol leaves behind her two sons, Robert Stephan Crews, David Warren Herndon II and his wife, Jennifer; five grandchildren, Chasity Meade (Bino), Jocelyn Sawyer (Andrew), Treyton “Trey” Herndon, Grayson Herndon and Dillon Herndon; three great grandchildren, Madalyn Gentry, Lydea Gentry and Ava Gentry; two sisters, Alice Palmore (Dabney) and Pamela Smith (Samuel); and one brother, Kelvin “Clay” Wooten (Jennifer). She also leaves behind many special nieces, nephews and Kim Darnell who she considered to be her daughter.
Carol’s passion in life was being with her family. Her grandchildren were her world. Any time she spent with them was precious to her.
Carol dedicated her life to serving others. She worked in customer service for Uniroyal before moving onto a career with General Electric “GE.” She retired after more than 30 years of dedicated service. Not much for sitting around, after her retirement Carol went to work for DMV for several years.
She will be missed dearly by her loving family.
A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
