Catherine L. Dillard

     Catherine Lila (Rush) Dillard, 87, of Esmont, departed this life on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville.    

     She was born on September 13, 1932, a daughter of the late James Neverson and Roberta (Brooks) Rush.     

      In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Jack Johnson Dillard; four brothers: John, Douglas, James, and Robert Rush; and four sisters: Sarah Scott, Louise Swain, Daisy Gray, and Florence Dillard. 

     Mrs. Dillard was a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church in Esmont where she was actively involved.  She enjoyed dancing and spending time with her family.  She was the life of the party. 

     Survivors include five daughters: Joyce Ross, Sylvia Dillard (Al), Sharon Dillard, Christine Dillard, and Stephanie Dillard; three sons: Jack Junius Dillard (Rowena), Nicholas Dillard (Joy), and Michael Dillard; two brothers: Walker and William Rush; a sister-in-law: Birdean Rush; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a number of other extended family members and friends.    

      A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Friday, March 6, 2020 at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church by the Reverend Dorn H. Lewis.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.       

     The viewing will be held one hour prior to the funeral service.
