Charles David Drumheller, 71, of New Hope, died on Thursday, August 19, 2021, in the home in which he was born on July 12, 1950.
He was a son of the late Carl Luther Drumheller and Virgie May (Brookman) Drumheller Snow.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Daniel G. Snow; his father-in-law Col. John S Hudson (RET) USMC; a niece, Karla Drumheller; and his best buddy and confidant, Victor Drumheller.
Charles lived in Georgia and West Germany while serving in both the United States Army and Navy Reserve. He was a jack of all trades and enjoyed repairing cars, lawnmowers, word processors, computers and copying machines, having worked for Valley Office Machines for over 40 years. Charles was an avid outdoorsman and charter member of the Staunton-Augusta Izaak Walton League of America, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He played the guitar and sang in a bass voice that was even deeper than the one in which he spoke.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Ellen (Hudson) Drumheller; a son Carl Stuart Drumheller and a daughter, Cheryl Lynne Drumheller, all of New Hope; three brothers, Carl Franklin Drumheller (Jackie) of Locust Grove, Ray Carthon Drumheller (Mary Alice) of Fishersville, and Glenn Edwin Drumheller (Jane) of Staunton; five grandchildren, Brittany Drumheller and Brianna Dillon (Sean), and Chandler, Cason, and Cory Root; and two great grandchildren, Kida Arey and Maddi Dillon.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, September 17, 2021, at the Izaak Walton League in Churchville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 4110, Glen Allen, VA 23058.
