Charles Preston Hudson, 95, of North Garden passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2023 in his home.
Charlie was born on Wednesday, July 6, 1927 in North Garden, Virginia, a son of the late Thomas Preston Hudson and Eva Estelle (Houchens) Hudson.
In addition to his parents, Charlie is preceded in death by his wife, Laura (Tyler) Hudson; three sisters, Mildred Mallory, Pauline Morris, Eva Mallory; a brother, Harold Hudson; and a nephew, Gus Morris.
After the passing of his father, Charlie raised his siblings with his mother. He spent decades working on the family dairy farm and supporting his family. Charlie was kept busy keeping up with his farm duties, but he always made time for church and family. He was active for 26 years at Hardware Baptist Church in North Garden, and he attended several others in the area, as well. Charlie enjoyed visiting a multitude of local churches, and always looked forward to attending revivals and homecomings. He was also a member of the Farmer’s Association and frequently represented local farmers’ interests at board meetings.
Charlie is survived by his brother, Richard Franklin Hudson and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family who will cherish his memory.
The family would like to extend a special “thanks” to Dr. David Aller for his many years of special friendship with Charlie and Laura and the love and care he provided Charlie until he passed. The family would also like to express their gratitude to Tonya and Jeffery Payne for their unwavering kindness and compassion for Charlie as they took care of him over the last 6 years.
A funeral service will take place on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 2:00 PM Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home at 650 Valley Street in Scottsville, VA and will be officiated by Bradley Walker. The burial will take place immediately after the service at Mount Olivet United Methodist Church Cemetery at 2500 Old Lynchburg Road in North Garden.
Those who wish to pay their respects may do so one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
