Dabney Reeves Staton Jr.
Dabney Reeves "Sonny" Staton Jr., 74, of Scottsville, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at his home after a long illness.
He was born on June 16, 1945, in Fluvanna County, a son of the late Dabney Reeves Staton, Sr. and Eva Mabel (Hunt) Staton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son: Dabney Lewis Staton; five brothers: Francis R., Franklin R., Dabney M., Gerald W., and Kenneth W. Staton; and two sisters: Elsie M. Ferguson and Catherine V. Palmer.
Dabney was a retired Sergeant (Stump) from Buckingham Correctional Center. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather (Pop). Pop's happiest times were when all of this children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren would gather in the living room and hang out with him.
Survivors include the "love of his life," his wife, Sandra T. Staton; six children: Darryl Staton and his wife, Samaramyth "Sam", Dane Staton, Ronnie C. Steele and wife Deborah, Rene Snoddy and husband, James, Sherry Shiflett, and Craig Staton; fifteen granchildren: Dana Staton, Joseph Staton, Lindsey Woodard, Morgan Steele, Lauren Partusch, Logan Steele, Michael Isenhour, Kayla Rhodes, Allyson Isenhour, Ryan Loving, Kylie and Kiera Via, and Steven, Michael, and Eric Staton; thirteen great-grandchildren: Anthony, Turner, Bella, Oliver, Carson, Elijah, Doug, Bentley, Lincoln, Owen, Alissa, Avery, and Ayden; four sisters: Mabel Keppeler, Merle Jennings, Carol Coleman, and Janice White and husband, Leonard; sister-in-law: Estelle Staton; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to his nurse: Teresa Martin, RN and his caretaker: Sharon Moore from Aseracare for all of their love and support. They made his life so much more comfortable and brought him joy. Also special thanks to Reverend Jackson for all of her support; and Margaret and Tosha, his social workers.
