Donna Patricia (Mamrosh) Horan

Donna Patricia (Mamrosh) Horan, 74, of Lake Monticello, died on Friday, September 27, 2024 in Charlottesville.

She was born on May 4, 1950 in Brooklyn, New York, a daughter of the late Peter and Stella Mamrosh.

In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her husband, Bernard Daniel Horan.

Mrs. Horan enjoyed her work as a dedicated registered nurse, serving Glen Cove Community Hospital. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother and the most loyal of friends. Donna enjoyed cooking and baking, especially entertaining her family, friends, and neighbors. Everyone will remember her wonderful sense of humor and her unique gift of gab. Donna received great joy in taking care of her beautiful home and gardening. She was a very active volunteer with Caring for Creatures and The Lake Monticello Rescue Squad, along with Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church.  She had the most generous heart, always helping her community.  She was an avid scrabble player; with most games going well into late night hours. Donna also enjoyed traveling the world with her husband Bernie and close friends. She also loved her trips to Disney with her granddaughter Amelia.

Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Adair of Long Island; a son, Sean Horan of Long Island; a granddaughter, Amelia Grace Adair; her sister Lisa Shannon; nieces Chelsea Reinwald and Danielle Shannon; her sister-in-law, Peggy Horan; nephew Robert Whittaker; and niece Mary Beth Dalessio.

A funeral mass will be conducted at 11 am on Tuesday October 1, 2024 at St. Peters and Paul Catholic Church by the Reverend David Martin Ssentamu.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Monday, September 30, 2024 at Thacker Brothers Lake Monticello Funeral Home.
