Elaine (Dennis) Skeen

Elaine Dennis Skeen, 94, of Scottsville passed away at home on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, surrounded by family.

Born on February 6, 1930, in Orange, Virginia, Elaine was the daughter of the late Robert Cabble Dennis and Mary Lee Garrison Dennis.

Also preceding her in death was her husband of 64 years, Emery Norman Skeen; her three brothers, Claude Dennis, W.T. Dennis, and Curtis Dennis; and one sister, Marie Westmoreland.

Elaine is survived by her children Deborah Skeen Lloyd, Walter L. Skeen (Karin), and Karen Skeen Short; four granddaughters, Lori Lange, Melanie Skeen-Agavekar, Kelly Alger and Kimberly Bolling; seven great-grandsons, Zachary, Isaiah, Braydon, Brody, Connor, Riley and Amayu; and two great-great-grandchildren, Ellie and Jeremiah.

Elaine was a bright, gentle and steady light and was a modest and dutiful child of God. She exuded a pure, maternal nature that put all of those around her at ease, with her understated grace. She was born without ego and died without doubt. May she rejoice for eternity at the side of her beloved lord.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home. 

A funeral service will follow on Friday, August 2, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home with Pastor Nathaniel Kidd officiating. Interment will conclude in the Scottsville Cemetery.
