Everette Franklin Horton

December 3, 1946 ~ June 22, 2022 (age 75)

Everette F. Horton, 75, of Scottsville, VA, passed away after a short, but courageous, battle with cancer on Wednesday, June 22, 2022.

Everette is survived by the love of his life and wife of 55 years, Charlotte; their 2 daughters, Angie Phillips (Tom) and Christi Thacker (Boddy); 3 grandchildren, Trevor, Tori and Destini; 3 great grandchildren, Beau, Hayden and Conner; special friends, Amber and her son, Steven; along with a host of extended family members and friends.

A veteran and Sergeant in the U.S. Army, he was a man of many talents. Always an athlete and avid golfer for over 50 years, his friends at Lake Monticello will greatly miss him. Playing baseball since a young child, he was a catcher in the Little League World Series Championship. A member of Fluvanna Lions for over 30 years, he was an independent grocery business owner, which drew him to Fluvanna County 40 years ago and retired from the LM Food Lion before settling into golf every moment that he could.

A funeral service will be held at Fox Memorial Baptist Church in Scottsville, VA, on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at 3:00pm. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 2pm. A private Interment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the Lake Monticello Youth Golf Foundation at 51 Bunker Blvd. Palmyra, VA 22963, with a notation in the memo line.
