Flavio Roque Obituary

Flavio Antonio Trujillo Roque, 50, of Lake Monticello, died on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at his home.

He was born on Thursday, October 5, 1972 in Nicaragua, to Ofelia Roque Caceres and the late Margarito Valentin Trujillo Tellez.

Flavio worked at the University of Virginia Medical Center as a biomedical equipment technician until cancer prevented him from working. He was previously employed at Klockner Pentaplast. Flavio grew up in Leon, Nicaragua.  After he graduated from high school, Flavio attended a university with plans to become a doctor, but due to financial difficulties he left school to help support his family. Flavio moved to Costa Rica, where he worked as a welder and then an electrician. He moved to the United States in 2009. In 2011, he received his favorite new name- Dad.  Flavio loved being a dad; it gave him an excuse to play with RC cars, Legos, lightsabers, soccer in Gideon’s room (with an inflatable ball), nerf guns, tag, and to create with perler beads, draw, sew stuffed animals, etc. Flavio also had “collectables” and taught his son that certain toys are not to be played with.

Flavio enjoyed learning. During his teen years, he chose to attend classes on the weekend to learn English. He was not able to complete college following high school, so he started taking online classes through Brigham Young University – Idaho to earn a degree in computer programing. Flavio was on track to complete an Associate’s Degree in December of 2022, before cancer prevented him from being able to finish.

Flavio is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in different callings through the years: Sunday School President, Membership clerk, ministering brother, but his favorite calling was serving in the nursery with his wife. They were able to teach the youngest children of the congregation about Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father, and he got to play. During his time serving in nursery, he learned to make balloon animals, which he would share with each of the nursery children every week.

In addition to his mother,  survivors include his wife, Beth (Creasy) Trujillo; son, Gideon Snow-Trujillo; a sister, Alba (Pablo) Trujillo Roque; brothers, Eduardo and Marcio Trujillo Salina;   nephews, Leonardo and Valentin Telleria Trujillo; mother and father-in-law, Miles and Wanda Creasy; brother-in-laws, Mark (Missy) and Austin Creasy; sister-in-law, Janice Creasy; nieces, Madeline, Marianne, Kate, Eliza and Ember Creasy; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Flavio’s family would like to publicly thank the medical teams at Martha Jefferson Hematology/Oncology, Cornell 2, the Pharmacy, and Interventional Radiology. Flavio received excellent care and kindness from each of you.  Thank you for all you did to make his life more comfortable during a very challenging and difficult disease.
