Frances “Frankie” Johnson Turner, 98, of Scottsville, died Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at her home.
She was born on September 14, 1926, in Scottsville, a daughter of the late Charles Benjamin and Ruth (Allen) Johnson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Martin “Paka” R. Turner, Sr.; five sisters, Dorothy “Dot” Carroll, Beatrice “BB” Proffitt, Katherine “Kitty” Spradlin, Ruth “Rudy” Shumaker, and Myrtle “Bubbles” Goodwin; three brothers, Eugene “Dukes” Johnson, Charles “Benjy” Johnson, and Gilbert “Gil” Johnson; and a great-grandson, Aiden Steele.
Mrs. Turner was the oldest living member of Scottsville Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Scottsville Skippers Club, worked at Uniroyal in Scottsville and as a Teaching Assistant in both the Albemarle County and City of Charlottesville Public Schools. She enjoyed bird watching, flower gardening, working puzzles, and decorating her home, and was a talented seamstress. Being a grandmother and great-grandmother brought her great joy.
Survivors include three children, Martin “Skee” Turner, Jr. and his wife, Amy, Dennis K. Turner, and his wife, Lynn, Susan T. Reuschling and her husband, Scott; seven granddaughters, Katie, Mandy, Jessica, Stacey, Adrienne, Lindsey, and Morgan; twelve great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; a special niece Claudia Karr; and a number of other nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home by Pastor Matthew Gowin. Burial will follow in Scottsville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
