Garland Marshall McMillian, 87, of Scottsville, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, June 27, 2022, surrounded by his family.
He was born on September 23, 1934, to the late Dock and Gladys McMillian in Richmond, Va.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, William Folwkes; a brother Benny; along with many more loving relatives.
Garland started Garland McMillian & Sons Golf Company in 1976, a legacy that he worked on for many years to create and was extremely proud of. It continues today under Links Choice as a global supplier. He was a wonderful father, brother and granddaddy. He loved to fish and hunt, which he only loved more if his family was enjoying it with him. Garland was an antique car enthusiast, specifically the 1932 Ford V8, of which he built 3 from the ground up.
Survivors include his children, Robert McMillian (Bettie), Nancy McMillian, Pam McMillian (Tim) and Steve McMillian (Ashley); a brother, Jimmy McMillian (Ellen); five grandchildren, Erika, Josh, Leah, MuLungi and Sydney; three great grandchildren, Christopher, Mason and Zach; along with a host of extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the entire staff of Martha Jefferson Hospital, along with the Hospice of the Piedmont for the excellent care given to Mr. McMillian during his stay.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, July 1, 2022, at Wesley’s Chapel United Methodist Church, with Pastor Gary Osteen officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.
