Gary Elmer Ziemer

Gary Elmer Ziemer, 87, of Palmyra, died on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 in Charlottesville.

He was born on October 16, 1934, in Medford, WI, a son of the late Elmer and Julia (Dahlstrom) Ziemer.     

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Celia (Braunsdorf) Ziemer; a sister, Lucille Wesson; and a brother, James Ziemer.

Gary worked for Woolworth and the Kinney Shoe Company, retiring as Vice-President of Real Estate.  He was an active member of Palmyra United Methodist Church and the Lake Monticello Friendship Force and was a lifelong fan of the Green Bay Packers. He and Celia traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe and enjoyed meeting new people and great dining.

Survivors include three children, Terri McDermott (Bob), and Jayne Ziemer all of Lake Monticello, and Steven Ziemer (Joyce) of Summerville, SC; two grandchildren, Benjamin Ziemer (Jackie) of Evergreen, CO, and Matthew Ziemer (Elizabeth Brennan) of New York, NY; and a great-grandson, Lucas Ziemer.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Palmyra United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Monticello Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
