Geraldine Susan Taylor

Geraldine Susan “Susie” Taylor of Free Union, VA departed this life Saturday, August 19, 2023, at her home surrounded by loved ones. She was born at UVA Medical Center on September 26, 1955, to the late Paul Burley Cottrell and Lillie Mae Turner.

Susie was a very quiet person. Though she loved her family very much, she stayed mostly to herself. Her pastime was spent reading, playing Live Casino, Word Search, Word Find, Cookie Jam, and Wordscapes.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Roy Taylor; a devoted son and caregiver, Jamie Turner; five brothers, James “Ding” Turner, Leroy Turner, Coleman Cottrell, Anthony “Ray” Cottrell, and Timothy "Tim" Kenney;  a great sister, Cynthia "doll" Cottrell; a granddaughter Taylor Turner; a great-grandson, Bryson; a grand-dog, Blu; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 2PM at Salem Baptist Church. A visitation will be held an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow immediately after the service at the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.
