Obituary
Gertrud Frieda Barton, 85, of Palmyra passed away peacefully on Friday, April 28, 2023 in her home surrounded by her loving family.
Gertrud was born on March 31, 1938 in Altenwalde, Germany, a daughter to the late Adolph and Anni Marie (Schmidt) Krueger.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Richard Eugene Barton.
Gertrud was a member of Grace and Glory Lutheran Church in Palmyra, Virginia.
She enjoyed knitting, sewing, quilting, and working in the yard. She lit up when you asked her about her grandchildren; their beloved Oma.
Survivors include four children, Stefan Barton (Angela) of Palmyra, Virginia, Heidi Lenney (Timothy) of Crossville, Tennessee, Karen Honeycutt (David) of Colville, Washington, Christina Craft (Bernard) of Fredericksburg, Virginia; four grandchildren, Chandler Barton, Kathleen Bowers, Alexander Honeycutt, and Conner Honeycutt; two great-grandchildren, Willow and Preston Barton; and a host of friends and family that will miss her dearly.
A private graveside service will be held at Culpeper National Cemetery on Friday, May 12, 2023.
