Gertrude Eleanor (Unger) Acker

Gertrude Eleanor Acker, 88, of Palmyra, died on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on October 9, 1933 in New Jersey, a daughter of the late Willie and Elsa (Zuck) Unger. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death nine days earlier by her loving sister, Elaine Devens of Tom’s River, NJ.

Trudy was an active member of Grace and Glory Lutheran Church, where she developed many lasting friendships. She loved the Lord and spent hours with her devotions, strengthening her faith.  She enjoyed many years working as a successful Bookkeeper in NJ.  Trudy mentioned often that she found great joy spending her retirement years in rural Palmyra, VA. Most important in her life was loving and taking care of her family.

Survivors include two daughters, Janice L. Crowther and loving son-in-law, Paul, of Palmyra and Nancy Acker of New Jersey; grandsons Matthew Phillips of NJ, Bryan Phillips and wife Susan Phillips of NY; also grand dogs Lucy, Chester and Duvel.  

A memorial service will be conducted at a later date at Grace and Glory Lutheran Church by the Rev. Meredith Williams.
