Gloria Jean Barnett

Gloria Jean Barnett, 69, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2023 in Charlottesville.

Gloria was born June 3, 1953 in Virginia, daughter of the late Robert and Dorothy Birch.

In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her brother John Birch and a son Robert "Bobby" Birch.

Gloria and her husband owned and operated Barnett’s Trash Service for 45 years. She managed the business behind the scenes and was one of their best truck drivers. She loved gameshows, sweepstakes, and Bingo. Her family will always remember her generous, tender heart, and her love of her Pekingese dogs.

In addition to her husband of 45 years, D.A. “Sonny” Barnett, Gloria is survived by two daughters, Bridgett Hipes (Chris) and Bobbi Oglesby (Tommy); two sons Frankie Bailey (Sarah) and Chris Barnett (Amanda); five siblings; fourteen grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, family, and friends that will miss her presence dearly.

Family will receive friends at Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 21, 2023 for visitation and funeral service.
