Helen Frances (Baird) Barker

Helen Baird Barker, 84, of Palmyra, passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2021 surrounded by her family. She was born on February 3, 1937 in Scottsville, the youngest of twelve children, a daughter of the late John W. and Hattie G. (Kirby) Baird.

Helen was known as a hard worker. She loved flowers, gardening, baking and canning goods of fruits and vegetables. Caring for her family, friends, and neighbors brought great joy and happiness to her life.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 66 wonderful years, Fred Barker, Sr.; her children: Fred, Jr. (Teresa), Jerry (Jean), Wendell (Michelle), and Carol Ann (Barker) Bragg (Ronald); grandsons: Kyle, Jeffrey, Calvin, Hunter, Cody, Caleb, Chandler, and James; a great granddaughter, Cora; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 18, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 19, 2021 at Scottsville Independent Baptist Church, 181 Shores Rd., Palmyra, VA 22963. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
