Helen Newman

Helen Newman, of Charlottesville, Virginia, and formerly of New York and Lake Monticello, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2026.

She is survived by her son, Ken Newman and his wife, Kelly; her daughter, Cindy Knight and her boyfriend, Jim Landis; her grandchildren, Dan Newman and his wife, Liz; Melissa Newman and her fiancé, Tyler; and Jordan Knight; and her great-grandson, Noah Newman. She is also survived by four step-grandchildren and their families, as well as her bonus granddaughter, Victoria Morris.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Newman; her sister, Barbara Zebrowski; and her son-in-law, Roger Knight.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the staff and residents of The Colonnades for their compassionate care, friendship, and support.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Effort Baptist Church, 7820 Thomas Jefferson Parkway, Palmyra, VA 22963.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lake Monticello Fire Department & Rescue Squad or Effort Baptist Church.
