Hilda Irene (Dameron) Pillow

Beloved mother, wife, and sister, Hilda Irene Pillow, entered into God’s Kingdom on Sunday, August 27, 2023.

Hilda joins her parents, Robert Gordon and Hazel Virginia Dameron; brother-in-law Bernard Wyland; and her daughter, Brenda Pillow in Heaven.

She is survived by many loving family members, including her husband of 62 years, Willie L. Pillow; their daughters, Wanda G. Pillow and partner Troy M. McKinney and Patricia A. Taylor and her spouse Charlie L. Taylor. She is also survived by many grandchildren, including Kendra Call, Tiffany Call, Mary Frances Hughes, Shelley Guenguere, Brandon Overcash, and Matthew Overcash. She has six loving great-grandchildren, Kevin, Sarina, Benjamin, Zayden, MaKenzie and Layla. She is also survived by her sisters and brothers, Barbara Wyland, Joyce Roberts and spouse Elmer, Georgia Lee Moyer and spouse Larry, Robert Dameron and spouse Barbara, Bernard Dameron and spouse Donyll as well as many nieces and nephews. 

Hilda worked in food service (State Farm, Piedmont College, and Comdial) and was a homemaker in the early years for her daughters and husband, whom she loved very much. After retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, going to the flea market in her hometown of Scottsville, swimming and picnicking at multiple lakes, hunting for collectables, antiques and dolls.  Some of her favorite hobbies were listening to music, watching her favorite Hallmark movies and eating KFC fried chicken. Her absolute favorite holiday of all was Christmas. She enjoyed watching her family open the gifts that she had picked out for them. Hilda loved the get-togethers at her mother, Hazel's house and loved her chocolate cake. She adored her mother very much and missed her deeply.  Hilda was very excited about her granddaughter, Tiffany's twin babies to arrive in December.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 1, 2023, at Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home located at 650 Valley Street in Scottsville, VA. Burial will take place following the service at Scottsville Cemetery.

Family will receive those who wish to pay their respects from 5:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at the funeral home.
