James Walker Cannon

James “Pop” Walker Cannon, 83, of Mineral, VA passed away on Saturday, May 6,2023.

He was born Wednesday, January 17, 1940 in Caroline County, VA, the son of the late Lewis Walker and Ollie Bell Cannon.

James “Pop” worked for Hanover County School Bus Garage for many years. He also worked at Eperly’s Garage in Rockville, VA, and he finished his career at Fork Union Military Transportation Garage.

He enjoyed growing his garden and building things.

He is predeceased by his parents; his wife, Frances W. Cannon; his son, Sonny DePuy; and his daughter-in-law, Fawn DePuy.

He is survived by his sister, Lynn Caddell; son, Lee Cannon (Everlyn); daughters, Kimberly Ohrum (Scott), Jeannie Sandridge (Bob), Loraine Paylor (Robert), Ellen Breeden, Shelley Smith (Bubba); and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. 

There will be a funeral service held on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Antioch Baptist Church in Scottsville.

Family will receive those who wish to pay their respects from 12:00-1:00PM on May 10, 2023 at the church.

 The committal will take place immediately after the service.
