James Rudolph Ramsey, 86, of Scottsville, died on Friday, August 20, 2021, at the Center for Acute Hospice Care in Charlottesville.
He was born on December 9, 1934, in Charlottesville a son of the late Branard Tyson and Hallie Marie (Taylor) Ramsey.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Gibson Ramsey; brothers and sisters, Wayne, Kenneth, Stanley, Ellyn, Brenda, Blain and James. stepson, James M, Wallace; and stepmother, Christine Crouch.
Mr. Ramsey was a graduate of the Miller School, Bluefield College, Lynchburg College, and Southeastern Theological Seminary. He served as a minister for many congregations over the years and owned Da-Ru Designs.
Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Betty Ramsey; three children Edward “Ty”Ramsey of Scottsville; Kara Louise Ramsey (Ted) of Waynesboro; Kim Ramsey of Ruckersville; three grandchildren, Sydney Levine (Dylan), Sara-Elizabeth Faulkner (Zack), and Ann-Marie Gibson (James Dean); step-son David C. Wallace (Elizabeth); several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Margaret Altman (Toney), Lena Lawhorn (Cecil), Roger Ramsey (Hollie), Ray Ramsey (Mary), Linda Grub (Kenny), and Marshall Ramsey (Stephanie); and a special aunt, Ruth Gwaltney.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 19, 2021, at VFW Post 8169, at 2977 W. River Rd. in Scottsville.
