Jean Starke Lowe, 90, transitioned over to her eternal life to be with her Lord and Savior on July 25, 2023. Beloved mother, grandmother and dear friend to so many, she will be missed dearly. Born on October 19, 1932, the daughter to the late George M. Starke and Sallie E. Haislip.
In addition to her parents, Jean is preceded in death by her four brothers, Melvin Starke, Leonard Starke, Steve Bower and Virgil Bower, all from Richmond.
She is survived by her five children; John Lowe (Darby), Cheryl Lowe, Paul Lowe (Juanita), Susan Tapscott (James), Patricia Barnes (David); twelve grandchildren, Scott, Candy, Amber, Leah, Lauren, Carson, Katie, Andrew, Brittany, Landon, Aspen, and Bryston; and ten great-grandchildren.
She dedicated her life to trusting in the Lord and loving everyone unconditionally, especially her family. She enjoyed church, reading the Bible, or just listening to a favorite hymn. She was an avid reader and collected many books. Her witty sense of humor, twinkling eyes, sweet smile, and generous spirit will forever live in our hearts.
A service will be held at Scottsville Baptist Church, 690 Harrison Street, Scottsville on Monday, July 31, 2023, with Pastor Kody Stewart officiating. There will be a light Reception prior to the church service located in the church hall from 11:00-11:45 am. The service will take place immediately after in the church sanctuary. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. in Scottsville Cemetery, 400 Hardware Street, Scottsville.
