Jose Elis Hernandez, Sr.

    Jose Elis Hernandez, Sr, 76, of Palmyra, died on October 24, 2021 at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

    He was born on October 29, 1944, in Humacao Puerto Rico, a son of the late Rufo Hernandez and Carmen (Figueroa) Hernandez.

    Survivors include his wife, Cindy Marie (Remington) Hernandez; children, Charmaine S. Hernandez, Jose E. Hernandez Jr, Cynthia L. Hernandez, Marilyn Hernandez, and Dennis Hernandez; grandchildren Desmond D. Reed III, Madison-Marie L. Reed; siblings, Oscar Hernandez, Lucy Hernandez, Olga Hernandez, and Helido Hernandez.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Bartolo Hernandez, Gamlier Hernandez, and Ediverto Hernandez, and Jose A. Hernandez.  

    Jose enjoyed working on cars and spending time with his grandkids, He worked for Vesuvius Plant in Blasdell N.Y. for 32 years, enjoyed working in the yard and always had to have something to do to keep busy. He was a hardworking, loving father, husband, and grandfather who will truly be missed and loved dearly.

     A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Thacker Brothers Lake Monticello Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in the Monticello Memory Gardens Mausoleum.  

    The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at the funeral home.
