Joseph Henry Bishop

Joseph Henry Bishop, 87, of Scottsville, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville.
He was born on May 28, 1929 in Albemarle County, a son of the late John Thomas Bishop and Rosa Lee (Melton) Bishop.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Iva Pauline Bishop; two sisters; and three brothers.
Mr. Bishop was a lifelong farmer. He was a hard worker and took pride in everything he did from farming and gardening to mowing and maintaining his lawn. He attended Fox Memorial Baptist Church in Scottsville.
Survivors include five children, Patricia Anne Fulford and husband, Rusty of Scottsville, Rose Marie Patterson and husband, Pete of Palmyra, Debra Jo Patterson and husband, Michael of Charlottesville, Frankie Joe Bishop, Sr. and wife, Mary of Scottsville, and Lillie Mae Bishop of Scottsville; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 2, 2016 at the Scottsville Cemetery by Pastor Randy Golladay.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Monday evening, May 1, 2017 at Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home.
