Joseph Leo Walton

Joseph Leo Walton, 63 of Palmyra, VA passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at his residence. He was born on December 10, 1957, a son of James and June (Griffin) Walton.

Joe went to school at Breckenridge, MN and Riverside High School in Sarasota, FL., where his Sarasota wrestling team ranked number one in the state and went to wrestling state championships two years in a row. He also was a state football champion in Fargo South High School in ND. He married Collen Keliher on June 30, 1979 in Fargo, ND. Joe worked as a farmer in his early years in Ohio, Florida, North Dakota, and Minnesota.  He was the owner of Walton tile and marble located in Charlottesville, VA. 

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Colleen (Keliher) Walton and two sons, Shane and Chad. Joe is also survived by his six grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Colby, Jordan, Skylar, Jason and Jaydon Walton. Also survived by siblings: Mike, Jane, Jeff, Adam and the late Mark; well as extended family and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 8, 2021 at Thacker Brothers Palmyra Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Monticello Memory Gardens. Those wishing to attend are asked to please wear a facial mask and practice social distancing.

 Active pallbearers will be Shane, Chad, Jordan, Colby, Jason, Skylar, Kaitlyn, and Jaydon Walton, Joe Heffle and Jared Johnson.

Due to Covid-19 regulations, there will be no formal viewing or visitation, family and friends are welcome to come by the funeral home on Friday, January 8, 2021 from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. to view and pay their respects.
