Judy Breeden Obituary

Judy Lee Taylor Breeden passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2024.

She was born in Kilmarnock, VA, on February 17, 1946, to George W. Taylor Sr. and Grace Lee Bishop Taylor. Both parents died while Judy was a young child, so she was cared for in the Carter's Bridge area by her uncles and aunts: Charlie and Alice Bishop and Joe and Pauline Bishop, until she finished high school in Scottsville, VA and went to the altar with her lifelong companion.

Judy met her future husband, David Lee Breeden, while she was attending a Firemen's Fair with her Aunt Pauline in Scottsville in 1962. Knowing Pauline, David boldly approached her and gave the old line "Where have you been keeping her?" Pauline responded with "She has been hidden and is going to stay hidden!" Judy wasn't allowed to date him until the fall of 1963, but always had an accompaniment of cousins around to make sure David was a gentleman! Judy and David were married June 13, 1964.

Anthony David Breeden was born in June 1965 and Jason Lee Breeden in March 1975. Stressing education, she made sure that both boys got college degrees to be prepared for supporting their future families.

Judy started working in 1970 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, VA, as a Clerk in the Credit Department. After several promotions in 30 years within the same department, her last job was Director over the Hospital Admissions Department from which she retired in 2000. She had a love of flowers, particularly hybrid irises, which she grew for more than 20 years. When she could no longer care for them, she gave them away to many friends and strangers, who will enjoy them as much as she did.

In addition to David, Tony (Tina) and Jason (Amy), Judy leaves her four grandchildren, Adam (Chelsi), Matthew, Hannah and Brynley. Her siblings have all gone before her, with the exception of her sister, Lena Mae Hoskins of King George County, VA. She also has a sister-in-law, Carol Ann Taylor of Kilmarnock, VA and a sister-in-law, Margaret Martin of Charlottesville, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Her mother, father, brother and 3 sisters predeceased her.
