June Ward Seay

June Marie (Ward) Seay, 71, of Scottsville, died on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville.

She was born on September 10, 1954, in Charlottesville, a daughter of the late James Richard Ward, Sr., and Mary June (Treadway) Ward.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Samantha Dawn Seay.

 June worked as an accountant at the University of Virginia for over 47 years and as a Broker with A. Scott Ward Realty in Scottsville.  She served as a Girl Scout Leader, loved caring for her cats, most recently “Sassy,” working with her plants,  and shopping for antiques. 

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, John Bridgeman Seay, Jr., two children, Tiffany Townsend (Walter) of Scottsville, and Shawn B. Seay (Susan) of Scottsville; six grandchildren, Peyton Townsend (Ivana), Devin Townsend (Chelsea), Kelsi Edwards, Cameron Townsend, Tyler Seay (Lauren), and Caleb Seay, three great-grandchildren, Isabella and Everly Townsend, and Graham Seay; three sisters, Rose Powell (Carl) of Scottsville, Trudy Hoffman (Bill) of Scottsville, and Ethel Burford (David) of Richmond; and one brother, Ricky Ward (Karen) of Scottsville.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Golladay officiating.  Burial will follow in Scottsville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
