Kathleen Marie Frances (Landy) Best

Kathleen Marie Frances (Landy) Best, of Lake Monticello, died on Monday, April 10, 2023 at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

She was born on September 17, 1938, in Bronx, NY, a daughter of the late William Raymond and Clare Frances (Hutson) Landy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Clare O’Brien and Patricia Zimbardo; and three brothers, Raymond Landy, James Landy, and Robert Landy.

 Kathleen was a member of the Sister of the Poor Saint Francis Convent in Warwick, NY until the age of 26.   She worked as a Purchasing Director at Marymount University in Arlington and  Capital Hill Hospital in Washington DC.  She was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, a very proud New Yorker and avid Yankee’s baseball fan.

Survivors include her husband, Jack Louis Best; a son Christopher Joseph David Best (Caroline) of Lake Monticello; four grandchildren, Shjon Louis James Best, Scott Benjamin William Best, Sarja May Clare Best, Susan Virginia Alaine Best, two step-grandchildren, Emily Rebecca Newton and Elizabeth Colleen Newton; many nieces, nephews and her beloved cats.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 17, 2023, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 - 4:00 PM on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at Thacker Brothers Lake Monticello Funeral Home.
