Luke Edward Taylor, 84, formerly of Scottsville, died on Saturday, October 12, 2024 in Gloucester.
He was born on February 17, 1940 in Buckingham, a son of the late Sam Jack and Sally (Godsey) Taylor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Lee (O’Brien) Taylor; a daughter, Lisa Ann Luciano; and a brother, Herman H. Taylor.
Mr. Taylor was a member of Fox Memorial Baptist Church and retired from Wray Brothers Construction in Charlottesville with over 30 years of service. He was hard working and especially loved being outside. Luke never met a stranger or had a harsh word. He lived a life of service and was often seen doing things for others.
Survivors include four children, Sue Shifflett (Ray) of Henrico, NC; Ruby Call (David) of Rice; Barbara Moreno of Waynesboro, and Kevin Taylor (Michelle) of Gloucester; 11 grandchildren, Becca and Ferrin; Chris, Stephen, and Julie; Ryan and Travis, Chris, Beverly, and Emily; and Logan; 19 great-grandchildren; one brother, Reid Taylor (Norma) of Scottsville; and one sister, Ada Garrett (William) of Dillwyn.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Fox Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Pastor Randy Golladay.
