Marie Adcock Humphreys, 90, of Chester, Va., died peacefully on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at Holly Manor Nursing and Rehab in Farmville, Va.
She was born on February 22, 1933, in Buckingham County, a daughter of the late William White and Eva (Londeree) Adcock.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Maude A. Shepherd, Ressie A. Davis, and Mary Ester Brown.
Mrs. Humphreys attended Longwood College and worked as a Procurement Specialist for the Defense General Supply Center in Richmond, Va. for 30+ years. She enjoyed antiques and ring shopping, country cooking, Fox News, but above all, spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Mark Justin and Debbie (Kambarian) Humphreys; two sisters, Anne Timberlake and her husband, Tim, and Dot Ragland and her husband, Jack. She was loved and supported by many Nieces and Nephews.
The family would like to thank the staffs at Holly Manor Nursing & Rehab and Centra Hospice for their diligent attention and support for Mrs. Humphreys during her stay. Also, thank you to Carolyn Haskins, her companion caregiver, who provided so much friendship and support. Lastly, Dayton and Brenda Todd of Chester, Va., who with their love and support, was able to allow Marie to stay much longer in her home.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 17, 2023, at Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home by the Rev. Jerry Drinkard. Burial will follow in Scottsville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home
